Nothing to Fear But Fear Itself

The title of this article is an often repeated quote that many people for some reason attribute to Winston Churchill during the height of World War II. The assumption is that he is referring to the threat of war and the fear that it inevitably brings.

But according to Yahoo Search, the origins of the phrase are a little different. The actual quote is from President Franklin D. Roosevelt's first inaugural address and it goes as follows:

"So, first of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself-nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance."

Looking at the date of the speech, 1933, and reading a bit further into Roosevelt's address, you realize that he was referring to the economic conditions of the time-in other words, the Great Depression. He was essentially saying, "if we can't shake our pessimistic economic outlook, it will be tough to turn things around."

So this often referenced and sometimes misused quote actually refers to economic times very similar to those we are facing today. And when reviewed in context FDR's complete admonition it is entirely appropriate for our present circumstances.

With over 100,000 Americans losing their jobs each month, people are paralyzed by fear. Instead of focusing on success and true happiness, their sole objective becomes to simply make money. But people refuse to think outside of the box. There is fear of change, fear to take a chance on oneself, fear of what others may think, and even fear to simply fail.

The fact of the matter is that anything worth having is worth fighting for. If you find yourself in this situation, you need to get rid of doubt, worry, and fear, and go forward. It's time to change. The best advice for anybody in today's economy is very straightforward-focus on the dream.

Turn to the Internet for salvation. There are simple plug-and-play systems available as network marketing opportunities that with a reasonable investment of time and money can completely change your future. Look for a turnkey business in a box that will allow you to ramp up and start earning a lucrative income-very quickly. But the key is to take action now. Do not allow yourself to be paralyzed by fear, and be sure to heed the words of FDR.
